Analysis of beams and connections

Project objective:

This project consisted of creating a span chart for assemblies of beams/profiles and connections to building joists.

These assemblies are used to support medical equipment in healthcare establishments.

​

In total, more than 200 scenarios have been listed. It was therefore necessary to first attempt to develop an analytical model making it possible to minimize the number of FEA analyzes to be carried out.

​

Main challenges:

• Ensure that FEA models accurately represent reality

• Determine which are the most critical loading cases

• Perform a colossal amount of FEA analyzes

• Determine between rupture, deflection and buckling which is the limiting factor of the span

​

Purpose:

The scope charter was finalized on time and with a level of detail that was very satisfactory for the client.
